Recently we had the opportunity to host a birthday event for a client, partnering with event planners from Arrangements Unlimited. What started out during the planning as a casual event turned in to a food extravaganza. Utilizing the talents from our Wolfgang Puck Catering team we developed a menu that includes a variety of individual reception stations that were all presented in a unique way which surprised guests as each station was wheeled in to the event spaces.
During the first hour of reception we provided passed hors d’oeuvres, including some of Wolfgang Pucks signature specialties. What guest’s did not expect was a visit from the Oyster Girl’s, who shucked oysters presented from buckets strapped to a tool belt that each wore. Traditional toppings were offered and also presented from the oyster girl’s tool belt.
The first dinner course was traditional Dim Sum served in individual bamboo steamer baskets from a rolling Dim Sum cart, complete with attendants wearing custom T-Shirts describing the course that was about to be served.
Chopped Salad and Tuna Tartare was offered next as servers wheeled in a tower of plates from which guests were served.
Lobster Rolls followed by servers who again dressed in T-Shirts describing the menu items passed guests individual baskets of Lobster Rolls and Seasoned French Fries.
The final course included Braised Short Ribs served over Caramelized Shallot and Mustard Glazed Horseradish Mashed Potato’s. Carts were wheeled around the event space with Chef’s serving guests throughout the reception area.
Guests were treated to a variety of passed desserts including Pumkin Whoopie Pies, Bag’s of Beignet’s and Assorted Parisienne Macron. It was a fantastic event inspired by our client who challenged us to create a unique and memorable event to celebrate her husband’s 70th birthday.
